A child booster seat is perfect for that awkward stage when children are too big for child car seats, and yet too small to safely use the car's regular seat belt system. There’s several types so you should be able to easily find the right child booster seat.

When your child reaches 30 pounds, this type of child booster seat raises your child to the correct height so they can safely use the vehicle seat belts. Some even have belt guides built in to help you position the lap belt and shoulder belt correctly.

Then there’s the child booster seat without any harness. These simply position your child at the correct height to enable safe positioning of the vehicle seat belt across your child with its belt guides. This child booster seat is intended for older children 30 to 80 pounds. Some will work for children up to 100 pounds.

You’ll find many companies make the different types of child booster seats. Reading the manufacturers directions is the safe way to determine proper weight guidelines and installation for your child booster seat. Many on-line retailers will have summarized these guideline on their web site. This makes it easy and quick for you to find the right child booster seat from the comfort of your home or office.

The child booster seat, you’ll soon find out, is available in many styles, colors, prints and patterns so you can find one to fit your vehicle, style, or child's desire. They come in different materials ranging from leather to denim, to cotton and blends. Some come with a cup holder or side compartments for kids to store their things.

For children 3 to 8, or older, a child booster seat is the best way to safely ride in a car. Remember, all children should ride in the rear seat, never the front, with or without a child booster seat.
