Child Booster Seats

Are Child Booster Seats Right For You?

Child Booster seats are made for children too big for traditional car seats, but too small for your vehicle's regular seat belt. There are many different types of child booster seats to fit your needs.

Some child booster seats start out as convertible car seats, using a five-point harness to secure the child, and then changing as the child gets older. When the child reaches thirty pounds, this type of child booster seat provides height for the child to wear a standard seat belt across them safely. Some also have guides built in to help you position the belt just right.

Some types of child booster seats do not have any harnesses. They work by providing a safe positioning of a seat belt across a child with their guides. They are made for older children thirty to eighty pounds. Some of these child booster seats even support children up to one hundred pounds.

Many companies make different types of child booster seats, so reading the manufacturers directions is the best way to determine proper weight guidelines and installation.

Child booster seats also come in many styles, prints, patterns and colors to fit your car, style, or child's preference. They also come in many different materials, from leather to denim, to cotton and blends. Many also come with cup holders or other compartments on the sides for children to put their things.

For children three to eight, or sometimes older, child booster seats are a great way to ride in a car safely. Remember that all children should ride in the back seat, never the front, with or without a child booster seat.
