Leather Baby Car Seats: The Benefits, and the Downfalls
Leather baby car seats seem to be a popular choice by parents for infants and children.
But, they are not always the right choice for you and your child. While there are many reasons
to choose a leather baby car seat, there are also reasons not to. Knowing a bit about leather baby
car seats before you buy will help you to make a great decision.
First, the benefits. Leather baby car seats are very durable. They resist punctures, tears,
and other stresses. Leather is also resistant to extremes in heat and cold. Leather baby car seats are
comfortable. Leather is a great insulator, and keeps moisture away, but lets air in. Parents like
the ease of cleaning a spill off a leather baby car seat, just wipe with a damp cloth. People also like
leather baby car seats because leather is a natural product. Many choose leather baby car seats simply
because of their beauty; it comes in many colors, finishes, and patterns. Leather also has a unique smell,
cherished by many.
There are also things people don't like about leather baby car seats. Although they are
durable, and easy to clean, sometimes keeping them that way is difficult. Soap, light, and time can cause
a leather baby car seat to dry out, and crack. Keeping the leather moisturized is not something some parents
want to keep up with. Also, sometimes the leather baby car seat can become hot when the car sits in the sun.
Some children also find the leather uncomfortable against their skin when they sweat. And, because leather
is cowhide, many people would prefer another, more animal friendly material.
