Toddler Carseats

About Toddler Carseats

Once your child reaches the toddler stage their carseat needs are different than either infants or older children. A toddler no longer needs to be rear facing like an infant. But they’re still unable to correctly wear a regular vehicle seat belt. There are two choices for toddler carseats: convertible, and child car seat.

Toddler Carseats - Convertibles

Convertible carseats starts out like infant seats, rear facing. When the child is old enough, convertible carseats seats can be turned around to become toddler carseats. You still use the carseat harness to secure the child. Toddler carseats of this type usually hold children up to forty pounds.

Toddler Carseats – Child Carseats

Child carseats are another option as toddler carseats. Child carseats are specifically designed to hold toddlers and younger children. They have their own harnesses, which are adjustable to fit on all sizes of toddlers.

For older toddlers and children, these toddler carseats can act as a booster seat providing height, and sometimes guides, for positioning a seat belt safely across a child. Booster seats that do not have a harness, are not recommended for use as a toddler carseat, but are great for older children.

Plenty of Choice

Toddler carseats come with various extras that can be a consideration when choosing a seat. For example, some toddler carseats have things like cup holders or side pockets for a child to put their things. There are many styles, colors, prints, and materials from which to choose.

No matter your style, needs, or child's size, there are many great toddler carseats to choose from. Just always remember, with or without toddler carseats children should sit in the back seat, never in the front.
